One thing bands must understand that it is not enough anymore to be talented or have good songs. You need to take steps to build your own brand and make your band appealing to labels. Major labels seem to be only picking up established indie acts these days. Also, take the time to learn the basics about online music technology. Learn some basic HTML coding. Learn how to craft a press release or write a newsletter. You gotta learn how to do this, or you need to set aside some cash to hire someone to do it for you.
