“Flesh and Bone” New Ascending to Avalon Track Posted on Band’s MySpace

Palm Harbor’s Ascending to Avalon have been hard at work on their follow up full-length, Behold the Wicked, at various locations in Pinellas County. To show their progress, the band has posted the first track, “Flesh and Bone”, on their MySpace page.

Singer/guitarist/writer Ryen Gerson shares on the band’s blog:

“‘Behold the Wicked’ is an exercise in being a hard rock band. it takes the heavier sounds we touched on in the EP and magnifies them, it really gets that out of our system. It also touches on sounds we have not explored as a group. I guess in short this record is part heavy rock record and part art rock record, i won’t say any more though :) I’ll leave that a surprise for the ones who come to the shows and pick up the record.”

Behold the Wicked is due in April/May 2010.

Soulfound Calling It Quits

sf

After a decade as a fixture of the Tampa Bay modern rock scene, Clearwater’s Soulfound have decided to call it a career.

“All of us have not been in the same room since April 2009 and we don’t plan on ever playing as Soulfound again (never say never but there are no immediate plans),” singer-bassist Ivan Pena wrote on the band’s MySpace page. “There is no bad blood and most of us remain friends.”

So what happened? According to the band, they hadn’t really seen each other since this Creative Loafing interview, and members had already gone on to other things.
